5 top ideas to keep your cool this summer in the Scenic Rim

Well summer is certainly here! Looking for a way to escape the heat? Luckily Boonah is surrounded by water, so you don't need to go far to find a cool spot. Try these local destinations the next time you stay at our Old Church Bed and Breakfast:

  1. Wyaralong Dam - venue for the 2032 Olympic rowing, perfect for a picnic, or a visit to the Overflow Estate winery overlooking the dam.

  2. Lake Moogerah - this 1960s dam has a great picnic and BBQ area, coffee shop and plenty of shady trees. Surrounded by the picturesque mountains of Moogerah Peaks National Park, this dam is also popular with water skiers. Take a short stroll over the dam wall and look out for pelicans and black swans.

  3. Lake Maroon - popular for sailing, fishing, water skiing, parasailing and paddle boating. There is a grassy picnic and BBQ area.

  4. Curtis Falls, Tamborine Mountain - this 1.1 km return, grade 3 walk, takes you down over 100 steps to view the falls. It is a lovely walk through eucalypts and rainforest. Walk time return is about 30 minutes.

  5. The Lower Portals, Mount Barney - this 7.4 km return walk takes you to a beautiful pool for swimming, set within a rocky gorge of Mount Barney Creek. Allow 3 hours walking time, plus time for swimming.
